RWU Study Abroad COVID Vaccine Policy
In order to participate in a sponsored study abroad program, Roger Williams University requires all students to be fully vaccinated, with a federally-approved COVID vaccine. Due to the unique nature of study abroad programming, such as close proximity to fellow students while traveling, international health and travel restrictions, and lack of testing facilities in some areas, no vaccine exemptions will be allowed. While students may have received a religious or medical exemption to attend classes in-person on the Bristol or Providence campus, the required protocols that are in place for exempt students here would not be available or feasible while traveling internationally on an RWU-sponsored trip.
In addition, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) makes a distinction between vaccinated and unvaccinated travelers, recommending: “Do not travel internationally until you are fully vaccinated.” As such, RWU will follow CDC guidance and require full vaccination for study abroad in all upcoming terms for 2022. Students who choose to study abroad also will be required to sign a COVID waiver.
